South Arkansas Community College has established its International Student Program (F-1 Visa) according to the Department of Immigration and Naturalization Service. We welcome students from all over the world. The college will consider for admission international students who apply from their native countries, as well as international students who have completed a program of study in the United States and wish to transfer to South Arkansas Community College. An example of a program of study could be English as a Second Language program at any U.S. institution.
If you are applying as an entering freshman, you must have the equivalent of a United States high school diploma (based upon a combined elementary and secondary pattern of twelve years). Also, if you have taken the American College Test (ACT) or the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), we encourage you to submit those official scores.
Transfer students from a United States university must hold an overall grade point average of 2.00 or higher (A=4.0). Also, the International Student Advisor must sign a transfer authorization form.
Submit a complete SouthArk International Student Application to the Office of Enrollment Services. All documents must be sent at least 90 days before the beginning of the semester in which admission is desired.

Submit a complete International Student Information Sheet to the Office of Enrollment Services.
Entering freshmen must submit a complete secondary school (high school) transcript, certificate, and/or national test examination scores (as appropriate for the educational system in their home country) to the Office of Enrollment Services. Documents in a language other than English must be accompanied by English translations certified by a University Official. Translations supplement but do not replace, original documents. Transfer students must submit official transcripts/mark sheets from all colleges attended (U.S. and abroad). You must submit a transfer authorization form (included in the International Student Information Sheet.) and current copies of the I-20 and I-94 forms.
The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is required of all international applicants for non-native English speaking countries. The minimum acceptable score is 500 on the written test or 173 on the computer-based test. The South Arkansas Community College TOEFL code is XXXX. Additional information about the TOEFL may be obtained from www.ets.org.
The U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service requires that international students show proof that adequate resources are available to meet the first year educational and living expenses ( estimated at
$10,688). The Financial State Form is included in the International Student Information Sheet and must be completed and returned with the indicated documentation (statement of resources, sponsor signed affidavit and bank statement). All fees and costs are subject to change.
A tuberculin test must be obtained within one week of enrollment at the college and interpreted by a licensed physician in the United States. If the test results are positive, a chest x-ray will also be required. Evidence of having begun a series of poliovirus vaccine inoculations must be provided to the Office of Enrollment Services at the time of enrollment and should be completed as soon as it is medically possible after enrollment. Documented evidence of two Measles, Mumps and Rubella vaccinations must be submitted to the Office of Enrollment Services at the time of enrollment.
